Kybella

kybella-photoAre you bothered by your double chin, and how it ages you? Until recently, surgery with anesthesia was the best option for anyone looking to achieve a sharper, more chiseled chin. KYBELLA®  is a FDA approved injectable made from deoxycholic acid, a fat-absorbing substance found in our bodies naturally. When injected, it destroys fat cells under the chin, leaving the skin substantially tighter and the jaw more contoured. More than 20 studies, with thousands of patients, have showed that almost 70 percent noted both physical and emotional improvement after treatment.

When injected into the fat under your chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot be restored or accumulate fat. After the desired result is achieved, re-treatment is not expected.

Prior to administering KYBELLA®, the area may be treated with ice/cold packs and or a topical numbing cream to make you more comfortable during the procedure.  Some patients choose to take an over-the-counter pain reliever before their appointment.

As with other injection treatments, you may experience some temporary swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. For most patients, downtime is minimal and occurs most commonly after the first treatment.  When scheduling your treatments, keep your social plans and work commitments in mind.

These are not all of the possible side effects of KYBELLA®. Ask our physicians for medical advice about side effects.

kybella-resultsYou and your physician will customize your KYBELLA® treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Almost every patient requires more than one treatment session to experience positive results.  Many patients see improvement in their chin contour in 2 to 4 treatment sessions. During these in-office sessions, which typically are 20-30 minutes, our physician will administer KYBELLA® into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Up to 6 treatment sessions may be administered spaced no less than one month apart.  It is important to receive the number of treatments recommended by your physician to obtain the results you desire.
